Family Holiday Breaks in the Lake District
The Lake District is an area of overwhelming natural beauty, remaining stunning all year round. It's a great place to go to get some of the best family holiday breaks and family adventure holidays, and we've reviewed one of our favourites.
The Whitbarrow Village Resort
Set deep in the heart of the Lake District, the Whitbarrow Village resort is the perfect place to stay for bothe couples and families. It's located close to a small village which provides food and a chance for some retail therapy, but the village is a community in itself, generating a feeling of privacy and seclusion, without an atmosphere of abandonment.
Where?
Conveniently located just 15 minutes drive from junction 40 of the M6 motorway, halfway between Penrith and Keswick. The village of Ullswater is just 5 miles away.
What?
It's a converted 18th-century farm in the foothills of Blencathra Fell, with beautiful views that have inspired generations of poets, artists and writers alike. The area’s most famous son, William Wordsworth, declared it 'the loveliest spot that man hath ever found'.
The resort comprises 45 one, two and three bed apartments situated in the old Coach House, the Piggery and the Dutch Barn. Complete with every modern comfort, each space retains the historic charm of the original buildings, with a character all its own.
The cobbled, flagged street outside runs between the converted natural stone farm buildings, and paths lead off through pretty archways to flower-decked courtyards, each with its own lawned area.
What else?
The Leisure Club offers swimming, spas and more, and can organise all kinds of outdoor activities from horse-riding to hot air ballooning.
