Family Weekend Break in Prague

Family Weekend Break in PragueWhether you want to relax somewhere beautiful, sample the Prague nightlife or spend some romantic nights together, you really could not go wrong with a Prague family weekend break. Tucked away in Eastern Europe, Prague is still a relatively cost-effective destination, so it's an ideal place to book a cheap family holiday.

Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, is a beautiful city filled with culture & diversity, with a legendary nightlife: music and movie stars frequently vouch for its incredible atmosphere. If you're planning a break in Europe, Prague has so much potential. Here are some tips to bear in mind when you make your decision:

Family holiday accomodation

Hotels in Prague can cater for all styles, taste and budget. The Hotel Duo Prague is a four star hotel that is capable of satisfying most tastes and has every amenity - and a few luxuries - without breaking the bank. The three-star Prague City hotel offers cheap accommodation in the city centre, with quiet surroundings and a close proximity to the Old Town Square. It's ideal if you're interested in sightseeing and staying out, rather than staying in.

Family travel

Getting there is easy and if you book early you can easily get a cheap flight to Prague. You can fly with British Airways, Easyjet, Expedia, Opodo and many more travel companies for as little as £24.99 (Easyjet).

Entertainment

Prague entertainment really is second to none. Whether you want to shop, sightsee, party the night away, go to a shooting range or even take a trip on the river, you will be guaranteed an amazing experience in this popular destination. Highly recommended is Prague's dinner and lunch cruises along the Vltava, which allow you to experience all aspects of the city, without fatigue, but with a glass (or two) of wine.

Cuisine

Eating out in Prague is a great experience and the standards are high with prices very good compared with the UK. Recommended are Club Mecca Restaurant, Radost FX's vegetarian restaurant and for something special try Palffy Palace Restaurant.

There are many nightclubs and bars around and some recommended places are Club Mecca, Karlovy Lazne, Duplex, Stonx, Zlaty Strom Bar & Club, Roxy Dance Club and Radost FX in Wenceslas Square, at the city's centre.

Currency

The currency in Prague is the Czech Crown (czk). The Czech Republic should be joining the Euro zone in 2010.

The Euro is accepted in some hotels and restaurants, along with certain international shops. However, we recommend holding Czech Crowns, as the majority of establishments will only accept the local currency.
