Luxury Family Holidays in Barbados

luxury family holidays in Barbados

It's a tropical island paradise: crystal-clear water, coral reefs, palm trees and white sands. That's why Barbados is the ideal place for luxury family holidays, giving everyone the most spectacular family holidays abroad.

Why Barbados?

The fact that Barbados is a sun-worshipper's dream come true would be reason enough to plan a trip out there. But Barbados has a huge itinerary of things to do and places to see: exquisite beaches lay across the south-west coast, spreading out from the island’s capital, Bridgetown. An interior of rolling hills, sugarcane fields, banana plantations and, of course, the exotic wildlife all demands attention.

Top family attractions in Barbados

  • Snorkeling and scuba-diving are widely available along the west coast and kids ages 8 and over can dive in the myriad swimming pools, and in the sea when they're 10 and over. For more proficient divers, there are six shipwrecks to discover off Carlisle Bay.
  • If you don’t fancy going under, take a glass-bottomed boat form Folkestone Beach.
  • Go on a horse-trail and spot monkeys and mongooses from the saddle. Alternatively, for the saddle-sore, walk the Arbib Nature and Heritage Trail or take a family hike up Mount Hillaby for awesome views.
  • Cricket is a national pastime here so why not take the family to the beach for a fun knock-about of your own?
  • Travel into Harrison’s Cave by tram to witness stalactites, stalagmites and waterfalls that plunge into emerald pools.

Best places to stay

  • Silver Sands Resort is a great budget option with swimming pools, tennis courts, beach and kids’ club.
  • Southern Palms Hotel in St. Lawrence offers Luxury Suites for families, complete with flatscreen TVs, balconies and kitchenettes. Prices start from about £2000.

Best time to go

Barbados has a wonderful tropical climate, but this also means it has a rainy season, between June and October. The island does manage to escape the worst of that as it’s situated way out to the east of hurricane territory.
