Family Holidays in Majorca

family holidays majorca

MyFamily brings you the definitive introduction to family holidays in Majorca. Sun, sand and sea is what the Balearics are renowned for, but Majorca’s beach life is not all about going mad in Magaluf.

Why Majorca?

From secluded sands in Cala D’or, to family-friendly beach resort of Sa Coma, to the shallow waters of Playa Muro – ideal for little paddlers – Majorca has fantastic beaches perfect for relaxing family breaks. But that’s not all. The chic capital of Palma has plenty of historical monuments and secluded squares to discover, not to mention a bustling harbor and all manner of tapas delights!

Top family attractions in Majorca

  • Kids bored of the beach? Then visit the illuminated Cuevas del Drach caves in Porto Cristo and take a magical boat trip on the underground lake. Alternatively, take one of the glass-bottomed boats that leave throughout the day from Cala d’Or.
  • Aqualand, in El Arenal, is the island’s biggest water park. Over in Calviá, at Marineland, you can catch Dolphin and Sea Lion shows.
  • Pirates once prowled the island and the Pirates Adventure show is a high octane swashbuckling stage spectacular, fun for the whole family!
  • The kids can swash a buckle themselves at Bellver Castle. They can have a run around and, being minutes from Santa Catalina, Palma’s restaurant district, food is at hand for when your little soldiers work up an appetite.
  • The wooden labyrinth on the bay of Alcudia is another great place for children to let off steam with all manner of maze-games – including being chased by monsters, dragons, fairies and wizards!

Best places to stay

  • The Aparthotel Coma Gran, in Sa Coma, offers full or half-board apartments in a complex that has a swimming pool, a crèche, a playground and a separate paddling pool. It’s one of Thomson’s Superfamily hotels and offers a kids’ club six days a week.
  • Friendly Rentals offers loads of trendy apartments, mostly in or around Palma.

Best time to go to Majorca

The Balearics have a classic Mediterranean climate, so that means year-round sun, mild winters and hot summers. Any time is a good time.
