A classic dish reinterpreted: perfect as a snack, starter or as part of a main meal. This is one of our favourite kids' food recipes, an integral part of our Food For Kids series.

Place the macaroni pasta in boiling water until it is perfectly cooked & drain.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan and blend in the flour using a fork or wooden spoon. Add the milk, heat and stir until thick.
Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper and stir well.
Add the minced onion and the cheese. Stir together until melted. Drain the macaroni pasta, place it into an oven-proof dish and then pour the cheese mixture over it. Sprinkle a light layer of breadcrumbs over the top.
Bake at 180˚C (Gas Mark 4) for about 30 minutes or until heated through and nicely browned on top.
